Talking Circle began as Verified News Network (VNN) in 2018, a social news media company launched to provide underrepresented communities with trustworthy, culturally informed information and resources. Over 7 years, VNN grew into a multi-faceted media, technology and consultation company, in collaboration with more than 20 community, Tribal, academic, and media partners.

In 2025, VNN rebranded as Talking Circle, expanding its technology innovation, community-driven programs, and professional services to serve communities across Oklahoma and all of Indian Country.
